Frozen Quails and Poussin

Palmdale – In our Freezers

You will know, by now, that Palmdale Village Meats, Poultry and Seafood have a huge range of fabulous, gluten free, nitrate free and in-store made/smoked fresh products.

Sometimes, however, it is best for our customers to provide frozen products.  Maybe because deliveries of certain products are only possible at greater intervals – sometimes they can only be sourced frozen.  Whatever the reason, there are actually quite a large and varied range in our freezers.

From prawns, quick meals, pastries, poultry, broth bones to pet food.  For the full range, read on.

Palmdale Turkey selections – and how to cook them

Turkey = Christmas right?  Luckily, Palmdale Village Meats, Poultry and Seafood has a very wide variation of Gluten free, Nitrate Free, Turkey Roasts – from smaller 1 kilo rolled roasts, to large 8 kilo full Turkeys.  Seasoned or not, as per your request!  Gluten free stuffing available!

While Turkey can be a truly delicious meal, it is a very lean meat and can be easily overcooked. Not only is it a leaner meat than you may be used to, but it is generally the only time of the year we are cooking such a large roast – and possibly even the only time this year you’re cooking Turkey.

There are only a certain number available in each size, so it is best to order them. Call in or ring, you don’t need to pick your roast up until you need it, but you do need to order it now (08) 8267 5498

For full range, and taking the mystery out of how to cook them… read on.

saus in brown onion gravy

Sausages in Brown Onion Gravy

A delicious, hearty meal – a family favourite of ours…. I’m trusting you with the recipe 🙂 When my girls moved out of home… this dish was front and centre in the “Dishes Mum Cooked” recipe book I gave them! It has evolved over the past 30+ years to the rich, luscious recipe you see below.

While it may take a few hours to simmer (essential for those amazing, rich flavours so inherent in the dish) – it is easily made in the morning or even a day or two before, and just reheated for your meal.

small selection of chicken from Palmdale Meats

Slow Cooked, Apricot Chicken

First of all….. NO!  This is NOT the old 70’s/80’s favourite using french onion soup and apricot nectar (although my hind brain memory remembers that fondly)

This is a tiny bit more sophisticated, less sodium, less sugar, just as easy and absolutely delicious!!

Before the recipe… a quick word about the Chicken sold at your favourite Butchers,  Palmdale Village Meats, Poultry and Seafood. They get their Chickens from Greenslade Chickens.  An incredibly well known and respected Free Range Farm in the Riverland, South Australia – yup, local – and when Greenslade say “Free Range”, they mean it!  Now a large farm, but still family run after over 20 years – producing Free Range (from birth), grain fed.  Greenslade Farm actually grows the crops needed for the chooks themselves.  The Chickens are Antibiotic Free and totally Nitrate Free.

Chicken that tastes like Chicken should!

So, now the recipe….
